US SAILING is attempting to change the government's policies on the carriage of inflatable PFDs and CO2 cartridges aboard airlines in the US. Some airlines in the U.S. do not allow passengers to check-in or carry-on an inflatable PFD with a CO2 cartridge.
If you do not agree with an airline's policy in this matter, please feel free to convey your sentiments to the airline in writing. If you are planning to carry a CO2 cartridge with you onboard an airliner, make sure to bring a copy of this document (see link above) with you.
