WOMEN'S SAILING CONVENTION GETS UNDERWAY IN ONE MONTH

Sponsored by Boat Owners Association of The United States

The premiere sailing convention for women is set to launch on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club in Corona del Mar, CA. Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatU.S.) will again be the primary sponsor of the Women's Sailing Convention, hosted by the Southern California Yachting Association.

The event is open to all women, novices to experts, and the 2004 program is packed with workshops to choose from, both on and off the water, including: diesels for dummies, winch wizard, provisioning, knots, sail trim, basic navigation, going up the mast, anchoring/docking, using GPS, dinghies dos and don'ts, and hassle-free heads.

The evening's gala dinner will feature Doris Colgate, co-owner and CEO of Offshore Sailing Schools and founder of the National Women's Sailing Association. She'll share her unique experiences over many years of promoting sailing for women and girls, founding an at-risk girls outreach program, publishing several books and helping to lead the industry to better promotion of the sport.

"This event gives women an opportunity to meet many other women sailors, expand their networking opportunities and learn new skills from all women instructors, many of whom are licensed captains," said Gail Hine, the event's organizer.

Space is limited to 300 and registration is $115, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, a souvenir and all workshops and handouts. To find out more or register, go to http://www.scya.org . Or write to Gail Hine at 1421 Lance Drive, Tustin, CA 92780; phone 714-730-1797.
