Miami Family Fishing Tournament

The City of Miami, in partnership with the Youth Fishing Foundation, Inc. of Homestead, FL is very pleased to present the First Annual Miami Family Fishing Tournament, to be held on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at the City's Miamarina (located downtown at the Bayside Marketplace). Inter City Tire is the title sponsor of this awesome event.

The Tournament will coincide with the City's annual celebration of National Marina Day, commemorating the important role that marinas play in waterfront communities all across America. Each day, our marinas serve as safe, family-friendly gateways to recreational and commercial boating, and as stewards of the environment. Our City of Miami facilities, as well as other local marinas, provide the infrastructure and access vital to our citizens seeking recreation on our beautiful waters. Miamarina will serve as our City marina's central host for National Marina Day this year, providing music, entertainment, food, refreshments, and a festival atmosphere for our customers from Miamarina, Marine Stadium Marina, and Dinner Key Marina - as well as the general public.

The Tournament has been designed to encourage families to come out and participate, featuring affordable team rates ($275 entry fee before August 3 / then $325 per team); prizes and awards for top lady, junior, and pee-wee anglers, as well as for various other species besides our signature species of dophin; and a one-day format with free Tournament Day tie-ups at Miamarina for tournament vessels.

Net proceeds from the Miami Family Fishing Tournament will directly benefit the programs put on by the Youth Fishing Foundation of Homestead, FL - a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education, conservation, citizenship and fun among our children and their families through fishing adventures. Founded in 1996, Y.F.F., through partnerships with many local organizations, has benefitted youth aged 6 to 16 by sponsoring free fishing tournaments, clinics, seminars, and recreational programs. During this time, Y.F.F. has put over 20,000 rod/reel combinations into children's hands in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi.
