Well, another Columbus Day has come and gone! Here are some unofficial results- official winners will be announced on October 15th, 2005 at the Awards Ceremony at the Coral Reef Yacht Club.

According to reports from the Miami Herald, "the first boat to cross the finish line in leg 2 of the 51st West Marine Columbus Day Regatta on Sunday was ARC-1-class entry Gaucho, skippered by Tiani Hausen. Gaucho finished the race just south of the Rickenbacker Causeway at 12:26:27, about two hours after the start in Biscayne National Park."

According to earlier reports from the Herald, the 69-foot sailboat John A., skippered by Frank DeLaurier, won the first leg of the race on Saturday, even after having been one of the last boats to leave the starting line, and towing a dinghy. John A. was registered in the Gunkhole class.

The first boat in the PHRF class to cross the starting line was Triptease, a 33 footer. Triptease completed the PHRF course, which is longer than the Gunkhole course, in less than 5 hours.

Over 111 boats raced in the 51st annual race which begins just south of the Rickenbacker Causeway, through Biscayne Bay and ending in Biscayne National Park.
