As of 3:30 pm on Monday, early eye witness reports are coming in from areas affected in South Florida, such as the boating community in Coconut Grove, Miami. Eight sailboats, apparently thrown from their moorings in the Coconut Grove Sailing Club mooring field, were found hard aground on their sides today on the south side of the Coconut Grove Convention Center.

Also in the Coconut Grove area, the Sea Tow headquarters houseboat berthed at Dinner Key Marina sunk this morning due to a piling which damaged the hull of the boat, according to other eye witness reports.

For boat owners planning to head into Coconut Grove, a couple of streets are impassable due to downed trees, namely MacFarlane Rd. at the bend, where it turns into South Bayshore Dr. in Coconut Grove, and 17th Ave and South Bayshore Dr., where a large tree is blocking the street, after having fallen down from the coral limestone house on the corner.

Further reports will be posted here as they come in, please stay tuned and if you have any breaking boating related storm news, please email us so we can alert the community.
